How Do I Join?

A student can join Detachment 128’s AFROTC program in two ways.

 

The first path is as follows (For current high school students only):

  1. Apply for an AFROTC scholarship through afrotc.com/scholarships
  2. Complete an online application
  3. Interview with an officer from the detachment close to home

The requirements for the first path are as follows:

  • Have a minimum of an 1180 SAT/26 ACT
  • Cumulative 3.0 High School GPA (Applies from Freshman to Junior year)

The first path is available from 1 May to 1 December during the student’s senior year

 

The second path is as follows:

  • Do not apply for a scholarship
  • No formal application is required for students not applying for scholarship
  • Contact the Recruiting Flight Commander (information located on the Contact Us page) to sign up

 

Both paths for entrance require the following documents:

  • Original and Copy of Birth Certificate (Original will be returned)
  • Original and Copy of signed Social Security card (Original will be returned)
  • Original and Copy of official supporting documentation proving that you were in and/or received awards from Junior ROTC, Eagle Scouts, and/or Civil Air Patrol
  • ACT or SAT score report
  • Copy of most current high school diploma
  • For Males Only: Proof of Selective Service Enrollment
  • Naturalized Citizens Only: Certificate of naturalization
  • Copies of and college/university transcripts if applicable (Unofficial transcripts accepted)
  • Sports Physical
